Lonoke, AR, 1942 - 2023

Robin Pinson Smith (born Hazel Roberta), 80, of Lonoke was gathered unto God on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She was born February 17, 1942 to the late Dr. John H. and Hazel Bacle Pinson.
She graduated from El Dorado High School and attended Hendrix College and received Secondary Certification in English and Speech from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Robin taught English and Speech at Lonoke High School for 12 years. She also worked at the Wade Knox Children's Advocacy Center as the Forensic Interview Specialist for 10 years. Those children who talked with her were her "heroes."
Robin was a member of the Lonoke United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and Lay-Pastor Care Chairman for many years.

She served as a Hospice Volunteer for Baptist Hospice for over 25 years. At one time, she was a hospice volunteer for Baptist Hospice, St. Vincent Hospice, and Care-Link hospice where she received the Outstanding Volunteer Award. She received THE OUTSTANDING CITIZEN AWARD in 2014 by Sheriff John Staley and the Lonoke County Sheriff's Department. Robin also received a Senate Citation from Senator Eddie Joe Williams for "her dedicated work at the Wade Knox Children's Advocacy Center" and for her interest and compassion for those children who have experienced abuse and traumatic events in their lives." Upon retirement, she was presented with a proclamation claiming September 25, 2014 as ROBIN SMITH DAY. Her love for the abused children she interviewed as a Forensic Interviewer and those she served as Lay-Pastor Care and in the Hospice Care were surpassed only by her love for her family. She became affectionately known as "Nona" by her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, George Stephen Smith, Sr.
She is survived by her four children, twins JoAngela Smith Gann (Greg) of Mayflower and George Stephen Smith, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Nashville, Tenn., Amanda Way Phillips (Jim) of Lonoke, and John Pinson Smith (Robert) of Chattanooga, Tenn. She is also survived by children, Lauren Elizabeth Day (Aaron) and twins, Mary Robin Clay and John Michael Clay. She is survived by grandchildren, Robert Stephen Burk, twins Caroline and Kathleen Burk, Julianne Smith Unger (Steve), and Delaney Smith and her mother, Heidi Smith. She is also survived by sisters, Judy Barker,
Johanna Swartley, Sula Mae Roberts; and brother, John Henry Pinson, III (Sharon). Robin celebrated two great-grandchildren: George Vincent Burk and Carter Aaron Smith Day.

Robin loved her friends deeply. She greatly enjoyed the annual "Miss America Club." She was also a member of The Lonoke Book Club and The Lonoke Chamber of Commerce.
