Hester L. Temple McAdams, 89, of El Dorado, and resident of Hudson Memorial Nursing Home, died on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Medical Center of South Arkansas. Born on Oct. 26, 1919, at Gravel Ridge, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Temple and Ada Samantha (Smith) Temple.
She was member of the Eastern Star, El Dorado Missionary Baptist Church, and a potter for Pittman’s Garden Center.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Leroy McAdams; brother, Lloyd Temple; five sisters, Mary Huitt, Catherine York, Delia Belle Anderson, Virginia Cox, Helen Temple and a grandson, Jeffery Allen Bland.
Survivors include a son, Roy Lee McAdams and his wife, Mary; two daughters, Mary Lou Bland and her husband, Ray, and Linda Sue Cupp and her husband, Howard, all of El Dorado; three grandsons, Buddy McAdams and his wife, Debbie, of El Dorado, Howard Cupp and his wife, Teri, of El Dorado, and John Thomas McAdams and his wife, Rachel, of the Middle East; four granddaughters, Melissa Thurman and her husband, Bobby Joe, of Spearsville, La., Sharon Graves and her husband, Bruce, Monica Pendleton and her husband, Jeff, all of El Dorado, and Laura Nix and her husband, John, of Texarkana; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at El Dorado Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Joel Dillahunty, Larry Hudson and Wendell Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors in El Dorado.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hudson Nursing Home, 700 N. College, El Dorado, AR 71730, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Memorial Program, P.O. Box 3704 Memphis, TN 38173-0704 or the charity of donor’s choice.
