Key thought:1896 Map of El Dorado

Comments:
Hello Wildcats,
Lacy “Butch” Mims and Worth Camp Jr. have given us an early Christmas present. Working from the only copy of an 1896 map of El Dorado, Lacy has replicated the map into a PDF file. Isn’t the digital age a wonderful thing. Print version can be purchased but they said I could share the attached file with all those who love El Dorado. Lacy has worked and coordinated with Worth Camp many hours to create the attached map. Remember when Lacy did this with our old high school campus drawings and did it to scale for our 50th Reunion year book?
I know you will enjoy enlarging this map using the + symbol at the top bar after you open the PDF file by double clicking with the left mouse button. 200% is enough enlargement.
Then put your mouse curser over the map and a little “hand” will appear.
Hold down the left mouse button and slide your mouse up or down – right or left across the mouse pad.
That will move the map around to view all the streets and property. Some buildings are mentioned.
It is exciting to see land owner’s names that are familiar to you. I wrote a couple of classmates to verify that their great grandfather or grandfathers own property back then and were early founding fathers of El Dorado. Fred Van Hook and Johanna Pinson. They confirmed these were their families. Eventually I will write other classmates whose last name appears on this map and ask them as well if they have email. I love to hear family stories. Feel free if your family name is on the map as owning property, to write me and tell me your story if you like.
A Very Merry Christmas to all of you,
Betty Reynolds Rogers
