Comments:
Lena Marguerite Tolbert, 89, of Bossier City, LA formerly of El Dorado and Farmerville, LA died Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Terrace in Bossier City.

The daughter of John Spencer Furlow, Sr. and Clara Lorene Hinton Furlow, she was born September 29, 1918 in Ashdown, Arkansas. She and James Wallace Tolbert were married September 5, 1936. They were married over 70 years, she loved to laugh and say, "And they said it wouldn't last!" She kissed his picture every morning after his death in 2007.

Mrs. Tolbert was a homemaker and dedicated fisherwoman. She fished alone until she was 87 years old and could no longer get in and out of her boat. Her family draws comfort from the knowledge she is now fishing with the Master Fisherman. She had a "green thumb" and loved to grow both flowers and vegetables and her family loved eating the fruit of her labor! Early each morning she would arise, fix her coffee and read her Bible then pray for each child, grandchild, great-grandchild and her great-great grandchild. Her family knew they were loved and drew strength from her faithfulness. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Virginia Sue Andress, a granddaughter, Dorynda Jo Andress, and brothers Roger Metcalf and John Spencer Furlow, Jr.

Survivors include two sons, James "Jim" Thomas Tolbert and wife Mary of Blanchard, LA and John Robert "Bob" Tolbert of Warren, AR, brother-in-law George W. "Buster" Tolbert and wife Maerine, sister-in-law Irma Metcalf and special daughter of choice, Janna McCullars of El Dorado, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held 3:00PM Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terrell Langley and John David Tolbert officiating and under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held 1:30 to 2:30 PM Saturday prior to the service at Young's.
