Lonnie Thomas Orren, 76, of Smackover, left this life on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1935 in Chidester to John Thomas Orren and Susie Medora Burley Orren.


Lonnie spent a career in the oilfield holding various positions, but worked as a "pumper" most of his career, working for various oil companies before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with the "Derrick City Sams" of El Dorado, a local chapter of the National Camping Club, "Good Sams Club". He loved gospel music and attending gospel singing events. Most of all, he loved his family who will dearly miss him.
Proceeding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Diane Bingham; brother, James Ray Orren; and sister, Geraldine Ashworth. He is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Helen Orren of Smackover; his daughter, Donna Orren; sons, Danny Orren (Joanie) both of Smackover, Dennis Orren (Ellen) of El Dorado, Joe Orren (Carolyn) of Smackover and Jimmy Orren of Parkers Chapel; sisters. Betty Mason of El Dorado, Linda Tewell (F.H.) of Smackover and Carolyn Woodruff (John) of Junction City; grandsons, Danny Ray Orren Jr. of Hot Springs and Wesley Orren of Monticello; granddaughters, Jamie Mitchell (Kevin) of Smackover, Katy Orren of Little Rock and Krystal Orren of Smackover; and five great-grandchildren.


Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, at Calvary Baptist Church in Smackover with the Rev. Mike Senn officiating under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Burial will follow in Smackover Cemetery.


Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
