Key thought:John Houston's Memorial Service

Comments:
As sad as it always is to say a final goobye, the memorial service in Dallas for John Houston was comforting. The El Dorado-connection was clearly evident -- Mary Audrey drove down from Shreveport, stopping for Kathe in Kilgore, then we met at Kay's and attended the service together, as well as afterward at the Sample home for a buffet supper. Cynthia had a CD playing on one of the televisions showing photos of John Houston throughout his life. Many El Dorado natives were there, including Mary Jo (Hammond) and Kenny Oliver, Mary Carlton McRae Young, John Houston's sisters, nieces and nephews, as well as his daughters and grandchildren. Of course, we didn't recognize everyone -- although Rosamond was as beautiful and gracious as ever. She mentioned that during John Houston's battle he just couldn't "catch a break" between flareups -- the attack on his body was too widespread. The family seemed at peace and expressed how very glad they were to be with him at the end.
