Pauline Lawrence, 93, of El Dorado passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at her residence on Mount Holly Road.

She was born July 18, 1918 in Tennessee and traveled to Arkansas with her parents, John Edward McMahan and Susan Elizabeth Marine McMahan and worked with them in McMahan General Merchandise Store, the first one ever established in Union County. She graduated from Myrtle Grove School where she played on the girls basketball team and went on and attended the Oil Belt Vocational School. She continued working all her life, retiring at the age of 87 as a result of an accident, which left her blind. She was employed at Medical Center of Arkansas for 37 years and received the "Employee of the Year" award 2003.

She married the only love of her life, Harry Lawrence, in 1936 and they were married for 25 years until he passed away in 1961. They were reunited on Tuesday morning with their infant daughter Laura Lee. She enjoyed country music and traveled to anywhere Eddie Rabbit was singing. She was known as beloved "Granny Lawrence" to her grandkids and anyone who met her and especially to her special caregivers and Life Touch Hospice.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Harry Lawrence; an infant daughter Laura Lee; a brother "Dub" McMahan and three sisters, Irene McMahan, Mavis McMahan Graham and Sarah McMahan Bush.

Survivors include her daughter, Gladys Harriett Davis and husband Travis; three sons, Joe Mack Lawrence and his wife Maxine, Jay Fredrick Lawrence and his wife Benita and Richard Allison Lawrence and his wife Susan all of El Dorado and a sister, June McMahan Murphy and her husband Bruce of El Dorado. Twelve grandchildren, Angel Cross, Paul Travis Davis, Terry Patryck Davis, Joe Mack Lawrence, Jr., Allison Dumas, Clint Lawrence, Gregg Lawrence, Jason Reynolds, Kevin Reynolds, Shane Faulkner, Brandy Watts and Stormy Riley. 21 great-grandchildren, Emily Davis, Daniel Davis, Matthew Cross, Mandy Gray, Kolton Dumas, Josie Dumas, Addison Dumas, Andy Craig Dumas, Ronald Elliott Dumas, Hunter Lawrence, Hailee Lawrence, Landon Lawrence, Eva Reynolds, Jake Reynolds, Amelia Reynolds, Reece Faulkner, Kameron Watts, Mykenzie Watts, Alexis Watts, Mariah Riley, Summer Riley, and numerous, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Pelz and Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Cross, Joe Mack Lawrence, Jr., Paul Travis Davis, Terry Patryck Davis, Clint Lawrence, Vandy Dumas, Gregg Lawrence, and Daniel Davis. Burial will follow at Burns Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation was held last night at the funeral home.

The family will be at 223 Lawrence Lane in El Dorado.
