Ralph Oneal Weldon, 90, of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

Ralph was born Nov. 5, 1919, in El Dorado, to Young Eath Weldon and Annie Blanche Newsom Weldon. He was a veteran of the United States Army during Wo rld War II, serving in the Alaskan Theatre. He retired after 30 years service from Amoco Pipeline Co. as a Right of Way Agent. Ralph was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Theatre Sunday School Class.

He was a 32 nd degree Mason, Shriner and Past of Masonic Lodge 13. Ralph was very active in the Union County Genealogy Society where he served as president for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, J. P. "Skeeter" Weldon

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Violet Mae Murray Weldon; his children, Kay Weldon Ball of Pine Bluff, Philip Weldon of Houston, Jim L. Wood and his wife, Angele, of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Lanelle McFarland of Hot Springs; three granddaughters, Amy Carmouche and her husband, David, of Baton Rouge, Jennifer Adams and her husband, Troy, of Plano, Texas, and Rose Ann Weldon of Houston; fi ve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Young’s Chapel with Dr. Lynn Worthen officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
