Opal Vivian James, 86, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado.
Born July 4, 1920 in Calhoun County, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Frank Blann and Ollie Stratton Blann. She worked as a bookkeeper for TG&Y in El Dorado. A member of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she was their longtime pianist, former Elder of the church and member of Pilgrim's Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Sheehan; three brothers, Woodrow, Earl and Junior Blann; and a sister, Maxine Isbell Rose.

Mrs. James is survived by her husband, Ernest James of El Dorado; a son, Don James and his wife Pat of West Monroe, Louisiana; two brothers, Rev. Laron Blann of Fordyce, Arkansas and Butch Blann of Hampton, Arkansas; a sister, Mary Sue Slocum of Little Rock, Arkansas; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM Sunday, March 11 at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Rusty Pedigo officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors of El Dorado. James Van Pelt, Caleb Webb, John Rogers, Pat Sheehan, Jimmy Whitley and Barry Crowell will serve as pallbearers.
