Memorial services will be held at noon on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Douglas Ray "Paw Paw" Shockley Sr., 79, who passed away on Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Shockley Sr., a resident of Lafayette, La., was the son of the late Frankie Shockley and the former Willena Salsbury. Douglas was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. He was loved by everyone he met and was known as "Paw Paw." He is survived by two daughters, Cathy S. Carbone and her husband, Nick, of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Janice S. Tauzin and her husband, Kernel, of Breaux Bridge, La.; one son, Doug R. Shockley and his wife, Dawn, of Broussard, La.; four grandchildren, Terrence Broussard, Tracy Lafleur, Frankie Shockley and Garrett Shockley; nine great-grandchildren including, Kenneth Andrus, the apple of his eye; one sister, Wilma Beene and her husband, Jerry, of Hampton; two brothers, Richard Shockley and his wife, Joy, of El Dorado, and Bart Shockley and his wife, Connie, of Oklahoma; and one godchild, Robbie Louviere and her husband, Troy, of Lafayette.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Neacie Shockley; one grandson, Steven Broussard; two sisters, Mary Jane Stogner and Betty Locke; and one brother, Lloyd Shockley. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Personal condolences may be sent to the Shockley family at
