Jasper "Jack" Lee Cupples, 96, of Smackover, died on Friday, April 22, 2011, at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation following a lengthy illness.

Born on Oct. 6, 1914, in Pinson, Tenn., he was the son of Pleasant J. and Octavia Barnes Cupples. He was the retired owner and operator of Cupples Refrigeration Service. Jack was a member of Victory Baptist Church.


Jack was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; a daughter, Shirley Mae Cupples; a grandson, Jerry Cupples; and his wife, Sylvia Marie Jones Cupples.

Survivors are his daughters Ruth (W.C.) Wilson of Benton, Bonnie (William) Chamberlain of El Dorado and Carol (Terry) Dison of Copperas Cove, Texas; sons James Lee (Evelynn) Cupples, Bruce (Tammy) Cupples and Rickey (Jennifer) Cupples, all of El Dorado; a brother, James L (Dot) Cupples of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister, Nellie (Sam) Macon of Jackson; along with 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.


Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011 in the Chapel of Bailey Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Staples officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. Memorials may be made to Life Touch Hospice, John R. Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730. An online registry is available at

The family expresses their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care and affection they gave our father. A special thanks to Mona Johnson, the staff and volunteers at Life Touch Hospice.
