Mildred Jordan Peek, 90, of El Dorado died Monday , August 18, 2008.

She was born on January 25, 1918, in Monticello, Arkansas, the daughter of Iris Jo Wall and Leslie Stanton Jordan. She graduated from Drew Central High School as class valedictorian and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas A and M. Her marriage to Eugene L. Peek was celebrated on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1940. For several years she taught science and math in the Pine Bluff area.

As a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 50 years, she was an active member of WMU and taught Sunday school for many years.

She relished the accomplishments and activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, sewing, and needlework.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Eugene, her parents, her brother, Eugene Jordan, and sisters Martha Jo Knowles and Marie Cruce.

Survivors include her four daughters and their families: Karen Magee and husband, Ed of El Dorado, their son, Taylor Magee of Fayetteville, and their daughter, Leslie Magee Duffield and husband, Blake, also of Fayetteville.

Sandra Prothro and husband, The Reverend David of Texarkana, formerly of El Dorado and their daughters: Aimee Prothro McFarland and husband, Eric, and their children Annaclaire and Aidan; Julie Prothro Smith and husband, Derrick and their daughters Madeline and Millicent all of Shreveport,

Alpha Horne and husband, Mike of Plano, Texas and their children: son Greg Horne, wife Stephanie, and their children, Alexandra, Michael, and Caroline of Plano; daughter Lara Horne White, husband Walt, and their children, Meghan, Claire, Matthew, and Katherine of Lewisville, Texas.

Debbie Greer and husband, David of Van Buren and their son, Stanton, and his wife Brandi of Waco, Texas.

Other survivors include her brother, James Jordan of Camden, sister-in-law, Dorothy Peek Burke of Little Rock, brothers-in-law, Noah Peek of England and Xelphin Adams of Pine Bluff, and twenty-three nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at the sanctuary of Immanuel Baptist, Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverends Faron Rogers and David Prothro officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at Young's Funeral Directors.

Serving as Pall Bearers will be: Greg Horne, Stanton Greer, Taylor Magee, Walt White, Eric McFarland, Derrick Smith, Blake Duffield, Randy Thompson, and Jay Stouppe.
