Biography:
While it is somewhat difficult to sum up in a few paragraphs, I will attempt to do so. Having lived in El Dorado from birth through college, I have many happy memories. After working for some time after high school, I decided to attend Southern State College where I received a degree in economics. It was at SSC that I met a Magnolia girl, Brenda Brown, and in 1963, we were married. After college I began work for Southern Extrusions in Magnolia as a salesman and was relocated to Kansas City, Kansas. After months of traveling several states, I decided that this wasn’t the job for me. When I went into a Chevrolet dealership in 1968 to sell our car, I was offered a job and soon began my career in the car business. It was in 1975 that I bought my first Chevy dealership in Sioux Falls, SD. Over the next years I bought 13 dealerships in the midwest. One winter day in 1985, we decided that the terrible cold winters were not for us, so we bought Rountree Olds – Cadillac in Shreveport and moved the family there. Over the years we have bought and sold many dealerships. At the present time we have dealerships in Texas: in the Houston market, and in the Dallas area with two new being built. We also have dealerships in Alabama and Louisiana. While our son, Matt, is the chief operations officer, I am still active in the business as CEO. Brenda and I have four children: Laura, Audra, Matthew and Joshua. Laura and husband Lonnie have two boys and a daughter. Audra has our two oldest grandchildren, Cassidy and Olivia. Matt and his wife, Nikki have Noah, Stella and Opal Anne. Then Josh and wife, Danielle have Uriah who will soon be 1yr old. Since the oldest three children live in the Dallas-Ft Worth area which includes 8 of our 9 grandchildren, we now spend much of our time in Dallas. One thing about getting mature is that you have an opportunity to reflect on your life and see how the hand of God has directed your path. We give God the glory for his loving kindness and mercy and grace.
