Biography:
After high school, I graduated from Hendrix College and then the University of Arkansas Law School in 1969. El Dorado has been my home and where I have practiced law for the last 42 years. I always said I would not follow the tradition of old lawyers who practice until they can not find their offices. I now know I probably will also. It seems we don’t know how to fill our days otherwise. My daughter, Janet Metcalf, lives and practices law in Yuma, Arizona and is the mother of my granddaughter, Lauren age 8. I am particularly delighted that Lauren seems to have real talent for golf. My son, H.E.,practiced law with me for a while but now is in the process of changing careers. He graduates registered nursing school in December. H. E. is the father of my grandson Ethan, age 8. I have always considered myself a lucky person. My parents lived to advanced ages. Over the years I have been fortunate to have had two remarkable friends, John Gray, a geologist and Dr Jacob Ellis, a physician, both considered to be the smartest men I have known. For many years I enjoyed and learned from them. I spent several years traveling to Russia with John and many more years appreciating Jacob. It will be fun to see all who can make our 50th anniversary.
