Biography:
After graduating from high school in 1961, I went to work for a C.P.A. in El Dorado and worked there for one year. In the fall of l962, I attended Ouachita Baptist University for one year. I married Cliff Shelby in August of l963. We moved to Ruston where he attended Louisiana Tech and I worked for the telephone company for four years. After he graduated we moved to West Monroe, LA. We had two children, one daughter, Shea (l967), and one son, Blake (l969). Cliff and I divorced in l973. I met Jim in l974 and we married in May of l975. Jim has four children from a previous marriage, three daughters and one son. Jim worked for International Paper Company and retired from there after 40 years in 2004. I worked in the school system in LA for about ten years. I also taught decorative painting classes for ten years. That was really fun! I taught in my shop in my back yard and women came from several small towns near Sterlington to take painting lessons. We had a ball! We are very active in our church and I have taught a Life Group of younger adults for 20 plus years. I have been on the special events committee for 20 years helping to decorate for holidays and other occasions. We have seven grandchildren who live in this area. Our oldest grandchild is 26 and teaches first grade in Sterlington and the youngest is only four! So we stay busy attending a variety of their activities. At the present time we don’t have any significant health issues, and we are so grateful to our awesome God who has blessed us so abundantly.
