July 11, 1942 - May 21, 2021 Memorial services for William (Bill) Goodwin Hammond will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held prior to the service, starting at 9:00 A.M. W.G. was born in El Dorado, AR on July 11, 1942 to parents, W.A. Hammond and Faye Hammond. W. G. graduated from El Dorado High School in 1960. He then attended Southern State in Magnolia, AR and graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in business. After college, he worked in the Surety Bond Business for more than 50 years. In 1984, W.G. moved to Ruston, LA, where he continued to pursue his love of golf. He also redeveloped his passion for cutting horses, competing in regional cutting horse competitions. After a long battle with cancer, W.G. peacefully passed away on May 15, 2021 at the Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ruston. W.G. is survived by his former wives: Joan Hammond and Susan Hammond; three children: Sean Hammond, Paige Church and Ben Hammond; five grandchildren: Taylor Hammond, Walker Hammond, Riley Church, Reuben Church and Murphy Grace Hammond; and one soon to be great-grandchild, Rush Ivy. W.G. is preceded in death by his parents, W.A. Hammond and Faye Hammond; sister, Margaret Ann Skiles and his beloved dog, Clayton.

Member of National Surety Bond Producers, LA Associated General Contracts, LA Home Builders Assoc, Formally Board of Trustees American Council for Construction Education refreshing NASBP (4 years). Former member of American Quarter Horse Assoc, National Cutting Horse Associated. Raised and showed cutting horses for many years - no longer. Daddy always said, “If you have to feed it, but can’t eat it or sleep with it, you don’t need it”.
