07/01/2010 Thought I should update this. Life is great and having too much fun to retire. Sandy and I blessed to have our two daughters and six grandchildren here in town with us. Love golf and enjoy spending time at our lake house on Lake D'Arbonne. The last ten years have been really great. We have been blessed in so many ways. In addition to my work with Young's, I am still involved in the tourism field. For over 30 years I have worked with the Arkansas' South Tourism Council. I was honored by my peers in 2000 and named Tourism Person of the Year in Arkansas. In 2005, I was inducted into the Arkansas Hospitality Association Hall of Fame. WOW!!! This past December 5th, I retired from "The Voice of the Wildcat" after four decades of doing EHS play-by-play covered more than 295 football games, 850 basketball games and some baseball and soccer thrown in. The first game I did was in September 1966. I just felt last year it was time to pass the torch thus my last game behind the mic was the State Championship which El Dorado won 27-20 over arch rival Pine Bluff. It was the first state title for the school since we were sophomores in 1958. It also marked the first team to win 12 games in a single season. What a way to go out and big ring to go with it!!!!! Looking forward to our 50th reunion and wish all well. 07/01/-08 - Having too much fun to retire.....blessed to have daughters and all 6 grandkids here in El Dorado. Still doing play-by-play of Wildcat Football & Basketball...did first game in 1966. Love playing golf and spending time at our lake house on Lake D'Arbonne. 10/24/07 - The last ten years have really been great. I have been blessed in so many ways. I have been heavily involved in the tourism industry in the state for the past 30 years and in 2000, named Tourism Person of the Year In Arkansas. In 2005, I was inducted into the Arkansas Hospitality Association Hall of Fame. WOW!!!! In addition to my tourism work and the work for Young's, I am still doing El Dorado football and basketball play-by-play which first began for me in 1966 and has continued through four of the past five decades. Sandy & I fortunate to have our two daughters ans six grandchildren here in El Dorado with us. Love to play golf and spend time at our lake house on Lake D'Arbonne in North Louisiana. Looking forward to seeing as many as possible at our 50th reunion. Help us locals make it special by attending!!!!!!

Biography:
Finished studies at Louisiana Tech University gave eight years of my life to the United States Marine Corps (active & reserve) and wouldn't have traded that for anything. Married my college sweetheart and we've been together for 47 years. We have two great daughters who still live in El Dorado with our six fabulous grandchildren. Began my professional broadcasting career in radio in El Dorado in 1966 and began doing play-by-play of Wildcat athletics on 9/4/1966. Forty-four years later, I passed the torch and retired from the booth on December 4, 2010 when EI Dorado won its first state football championship in 51 years (we were sophomores when last one was won). Worked at KTVE TV in El Dorado from 1973 - 1985, then chamber work till 2001 and the past ten years have been at Young's Funeral Directors. Long story how this happened but God placed me there and it has been the most rewarding work of my life. Enjoy spending time with grandkids, playing golf, working in the yard and spending time at our lake house. I also have been involved heavily in the state tourism industry for the past 35 years. I have served as secretary/treasurer for the Arkansas' South Tourism Association for 28 years. I was honored by my peers in 2000 when I was named Tourism Person of the Year in the state. I have also been honored with the Silver Cup for tourism work and was inducted into the Arkansas Hospitality Association Hall of Fame in 2005. Life and God have been great to us and I wouldn't want to change a thing. Ask to see my State Championship Ring!!!!!
