October 31, 1942 - March 31, 2010 Funeral for Larry Andrew Long, 67, of West Monroe, La., will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with the Rev. Larry Linson officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. Long was born Oct. 31, 1942, in El Dorado, a son of Margaret Jo Brasher Long and the late James Long. He passed away March 31, 2010, in West Monroe. Agent and owner of the Long Shelter Insurance Agency in West Monroe, Mr. Long was a member of First Baptist Church in Calhoun, La., and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Long Grigson. Larry never met a stranger. He was the most giving, loving, awesome husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend. He was always ready and willing to help a friend in need, most of all he loved Jesus with all his heart and lived it every day. He lived his life every day as if it was the last. His love for his family and God was first. His other love was his beautiful black trike and his reproduction ’57 Chevy trailer that he and Annette traveled the United States on. He loved a good joke and was an ace prankster. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Annette Gibson Long; his mother, Margaret Jo Brasher Long; his sons, Doug Long and his wife, Laura, and Robert Long and his wife, Lisa Malloy; son-in-law, Jerry Grigson; grandsons, Sam, Stephen, and Jon-Luke Long, Jesse Eldridge, and Matthew Grigson; grand daughter, Sarah Aiken and her husband, Sam; great granddaughter, Bailye Aiken; brother, Bill Long and his wife, Janis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers are John Scott, Mike Hudson, Jerry Grigson, Buddy Tarver, Eddie Hendry, Steve Alexander, Jim Berry and James Poe. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
