December 4, 1943 - April 21, 1988 Margie Ruth Strickland Martindale, 44, died Thursday in a local hospital. A 1961 graduate of El Dorado, Ark., High School, she was valedictorian of her class and graduated from Bethel College in 1964 with a degree in education. Survivors include her husband, Dr. J. Craig Martindale; son, J. Craig Martindale Jr., daughter, Kellie Michelle Martindale, all of Chattanooga, TN; parents, Irvin and Margie Strickland; sister, Martha Brown, all of El Dorado; brother, Travis Strickland, Smackover, Ark. and grandmother, Beulah Rogers, Hampton, Ark. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tommy Jobe officiating. The body will then be taken to Ripley Funeral Home, Ripley, Miss. for graveside services at 2 p.m. CDT Sunday in Hopewell Cemetery. Loral arrangements by Chattanooga Guardian Chapel, East. Additional Information: Margie’s husband was pastor of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, TN from 1978 to 1989. Her son is a teacher.
