Duane Amis will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Biography:
I'm just getting done with breast cancer treatments and will not be able to attend the reunion. I'm doing good, but my immune system is very low at this time, and I've been told it's wise not to circulate just yet. Now for what I've been doing for the past 50 years - After graduation, I worked as a secretary for about 3 yrs. Found out I didn't like sitting behind a desk and got a job at Prescolite making light fixtures. That lasted for a couple of years until there was a huge lay-off and it got me. I'd fixed my hair and other's for years so, I went to 1st Nat'l Bank and borrowed the money for a beauty course. After about 9 1/2 months, I finished beauty school at Paramount Beauty School and the owner, Fannie Belle Currie, asked me to work for her in her shop in another part of the building. That job lasted approx. 6 yrs and during that time, I married in Sept. of 1973. When my son Todd was born in Nov. of 1975,I quit that job and worked out of a shop in my home doing hair until 1989. The marriage ended that year and I found a job as a teacher's aide at my church 1st Assy. of God and they closed the school a year later. That's when I was hired at West Side Baptist Daycare working as just a daycare employee, but I was asked to be a 3yr. old kindergarten teacher after several years and I dearly loved my job as a teacher. Last year in Oct. 2010, I had to have breast surgery from falling over a child and bruising myself 4 yrs. earlier. I would love to go back to work, but only God knows if and when that will happen. Now during most of my life, since I was about 12 or 14 yrs. old, I have traveled with a gospel group on week-ends, making 4 albums and traveling places I'd never gone before, meeting people and spreading the Word in song. My life has been full and I thank God He has brought me this far and kept me in His care. I wouldn't dare forget to tell ya'll that I have 3 beautiful granddaughters who live in London, Ky. with my son and their mother. The oldest is Alyssa Kinard, who is 13yrs. old, the middle girl, Alexis Kindard will be 9yrs. old Oct. 2nd, and Zaylie Kinard is 3yrs. old. A precious family and I miss not being around them much. May God richly bless each one of you is my prayer!!
