Biography:
I live in Northern Virginia about 35 miles outside of D.C. It is just far enough away to be safe from some of the anxiety about everything political and close enough that I can enjoy museums and theatre when I want. My three children all live in the area - all about 30 minutes from me. So I see them regularly. I went to Disney with my three oldest grandchildren (16, 13, and 10) this past summer (of course their Mom and Dad came too but the real joy was to have time with the kids). I see my youngest grandchild (2 1/2) every week on Mondays. We spend a lot of time talking about trains (his favorite thing right now) and going to the train store. I am still working in my private practice. I still enjoy it but am trying to do a little less than I used to do. I will retire someday but have not decided when that will be. Honestly I cannot imagine not having some place to go to work. Every two years I go to Santa Fe, NM to a meeting. I really love it there and would move except my children are here. It is a wonderful place devoted to all the things I love - food, music, art, and gardening. They have a wonderful farmer's market that is open 3 times a week. The other area of joy these days is film. Every November I go to a film festival at the local beach (about 3 hours away). For four days I watch independent movies with my oldest son and a friend. It is also a community devoted to food, art, and music (my kind of place). It is usually warm enough to get some time walking on the beach. While at the festival I always think of the many Saturdays in El Dorado that were spent at the 3 movie houses (Yes I remember and went to all three. Sometimes I made it to 2 of them in one Saturday). I have a quote in my home that says "You never leave a place you love, a part of it goes with you." I think that sums up my El Dorado experience. Dorothy Thibault
