Biography:

After graduation from high school, I had the opportunity to graduate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Art History.

It was there that I met my husband James who was from Texas and we moved to Arlington, Texas after our wedding. James worked for U.S. Customs Service and we spent the next years moving from Laredo to Brownsville and finally to Las Cruces, NM.

We have three children: Mary Catherine, Virginia Ann and James William Allen. During this time I got a further degree in Medical Technology and worked at Laredo Junior College and Brownsville Southmost College teaching Medical Assisting programs. I finished my career in Las Cruces and finally got to move back to the Dallas area where my daughters settled.

I have always loved to travel and have been to 45 of the fifty states sightseeing. My favorites are Utah/Arizona canyons and Alaska wilderness. I was also able to travel several times to Europe and have extended family that live in England and Switzerland. My most favorite place I have traveled is Hong Kong where I was snowed by the people and the history of the area. I love history and studying other cultures especially the Native Americans of the Southwest and the Chinese/Japanese cultures.

After retirement in 2002, I was looking for something to do and found the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Programs. I attended the land class and the water class and finally became an instructor. I now teach 10 classes a week at the local senior center and love every minute of it.

I am always looking forward to learning more and hope to soon travel to Germany for a trip down the Rhine. Life has always been a journey of discovery.
