Colvin Rhodes

February 21, 1943 - December 27, 2000

Ben Colvin Rhodes, 57, of Crossett, and formerly of El Dorado, AR died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, near Strong in a vehicle accident.

Born February 21, 1943, in Spearsville, LA, he was the son of Henry “Tommy” Thomas and Celia Mae Yossett Rhodes. He was a general mechanic for Georgia-Pacific, president of Local 1362 Machinists Local, chairman of Welding Safety Dept. at Georgia-Pacific, and a member of the Church of God. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry “Tommy” Thomas Rhodes.

Survivors include his mother, Celia Mae Rhodes of El Dorado; two daughters, Darla Ann Johnson of Sequin, TX, and Alicia Jolene Rhodes of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Carolyn Saulsbury of Smackover; and six brothers, Charles Rhodes and John Rhodes, both El Dorado, Mike Rhodes of Monroe, LA., Bobby Jack Rhodes of Mt. View, Don Rhodes of Springhill, LA and Pat Rhodes of New Orleans, LA and three grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Chapel. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Farmerville, LA under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family will be at the Celia Rhodes residence, 953 Nick Springs Rd.
