Berry Thomas Bates, 43, of 206 Lilac Dr., died Saturday, May 2, 1987 in Calion.
He was born January 9, 1944, in El Dorado, the son of Judge Soloman Bates and Charlotte Hill Bates. He was a trailer park operator.
Survivors include his parents, Mr and Mrs. J. S. Bates of El Dorado; three daughters, Miss Berrie Bates of Russellville, Miss Jessica Bates of Darnell and Miss Kristin Bates of Odessa, TX.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Chapel with the Revs. Stanton Posey and Charles Ainsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery near El Dorado under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
The family will be at the J. S. Bates residence at 206 Lilac Dr. Visitation will be at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Berry Bates accidentally drowned while swimming in Calion Lake near Crabapple Point. Two of his friends tried to save him but could not find him. |
